Flop Eared Monster

Category: In Memoriam

Post 1 by Rubber Duck (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 28-Dec-2017 20:14:46

It is with a heavy heart that I must let you all know that Flop Eared Monster, Michelle, passed away last night. The funeral will be on Saturday at 4 PM. I don't know any other details. I assume she died of heart failure or complications related to her heart and other health problems. I still cannot believe this is happening, please let it be just a bad dream?

I knew her for a long time. She would get sick and almost to the brink, but always made it back.
Rest in peace.
Makes my heart heavy.

I didn't "know" her, but when I first started here and had all messages turned on, she was the first person who messaged me. I loved her username, very fun.

Post 11 by AgateRain (Believe it or not, everything on me and about me is real!) on Friday, 29-Dec-2017 15:10:29

Rest in peace Michelle. Last time we talked, she was working on her degree, and was sure that she would finish. Definitely would be missed here.

Post 13 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Friday, 29-Dec-2017 17:30:07

wow hard to believe she's gone.

Post 14 by ADVOCATOR! (Finally getting on board!) on Friday, 29-Dec-2017 19:56:31

She was 1 part peacdmaker, one part flirt, 3 or 4 parts fun.
I didn't expect this at all. I keep expecting her to come back and ask me to feed her soup, while she's crying tears. It was a joke we had, because of Tuna.

Post 15 by GuitarGuy (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 29-Dec-2017 21:11:23

This news is so sad. She was a wonderful contributer here - so full of life and humour, but also very caring and encouraging. A huge loss for our community. May she know peace and wholeness now.

I'll be thinking of her, when her funeral is. I have a plan to tip a bottle to her, because, she liked a beer now and then. she knows I ain't exactly rich, so she will understand, if I tip my Brandy instead. I can't tell the times to count them, she drank a beer out here. And went for another one. And her bar she made out here?! More than cool!

Post 17 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Saturday, 30-Dec-2017 13:45:50

I was hoping Rubber Duck could record the service today and post a link somewhere, but he's not sure if he can make it there.

Post 18 by Rubber Duck (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 30-Dec-2017 19:43:14

I only went during visiting today, I don't think I could have handled the funeral.

r.i.p Michelle. Although we don’t always see eye to eye or nose to nose on things or
sharing the same values, i enjoy knowing you and talking to you on public QN. You will be
miss.

Post 20 by ADVOCATOR! (Finally getting on board!) on Sunday, 31-Dec-2017 13:13:28

I had a little drink in her memory, since she'd come out here with a beer.

Post 21 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Sunday, 31-Dec-2017 14:42:40

I will do the same next time I can have a beer.

Whoa! I haven't logged in here in an age, since I lost my Mark, but I had not at all expected to see this! Rest in peace, Michelle. I will miss talking to and joking with you.

Post 26 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Thursday, 04-Jan-2018 13:11:38

I'm late to the party on this one, but wow! Michelle was a good friend to many people on here, fun to talk to, and I also had beers in solidarity with her at times on this site.

R.I.P. definitely will be missed.

Post 27 by DevilishAnthony (Just go on and agree with me. You know you want to.) on Thursday, 04-Jan-2018 14:42:44

Our zone family seems to be getting smaller and smaller these days. Hugs to all who knew Michelle well. She will certainly be missed. I found out about her passing yesterday via a Skype chat message.

Post 30 by Pasco (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Sunday, 07-Jan-2018 5:32:29

I have been avoiding reading this thread because it came as such a horrible shock when I heard. I just could not bear to read this. The last time I was with Michelle, was in early November, and she was really sick. She allowed me to hold her quietly and just comfort her. She was one of the very first people I met on Zone, and also one of only a couple who was open and friendly to me from the beginning. When she sent you a PQN, you knew she was talking just to you, and you alone. Then, Skype very unkindly reminded me on January 1st that it was her birthday. My eyes are wet as I write this. She was way to young, and I will miss her. She was special and touched many people. She sure touched me.

Post 34 by HellTabby666 (Shh... quiet, you might piss somebody off.) on Wednesday, 17-Jan-2018 0:13:56

But think about it: I bet she wouldn't want you to cry; she'd want you to try to push through the sadness, and try to be happy again.

Post 35 by BigDogDaddy (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 18-Jan-2018 13:52:55

I got the opportunity to work with Michelle several years ago. She was my first case in my new job at the time as an A.T specialist, and she was a true treasure to work with. I probably met with her 3 or 4 times for training, and her cheerful and encouraging outlook was refreshing. May she rest in peace!
